Last Saturday I went to the 49er's game against the Redskins at Candlestick with Jesse and Dawn... I haven't been there in nearly 10 years. I went to a football game there maybe 10 years ago, during the Steve Young/Jerry Rice era. And I haven't been there since. I really prefer to watch football on TV, but it was nice being there despite the cold weather from the fog... yeah right! It was freezing. No wonder I stopped going there to the Niner/Giants games back in the days. I came straight from a wedding, so I looked inappropriately dressed for a football game. I knew the Niners were bad, but I saw with my own eyes how bad they really were. Offence, Defense, Special Teams all bad. They need new everything: a new GM, new coach, a new quarterback, a new stadium and more importantly, a new owner. Despite all this, I still support the niners. This was my team when I was growing up and it'll be my team when I die. Bring in Mike Holmgren... pick up Drew Brees when he becomes a free agent. Use their draft picks wisely. It's rebuilding stage once again.
After the game I went back to Vallejo and made a slight detour and did some X-mas shopping. Bought the John Lennon Acoustic album for my dad. some gift certificates for some friends, and last but not least, 24 Season 3 for myself... SCORE!!!! I have to watch it before they start Season 4 next year!
Went home and the house was packed full of guests. Grandma, Uncle Benny, my Auntie Grace and Uncle Shawn from Florida were visiting, plus my mom's classmate's family's and 5 of their kids. It was nice having everyone there. It's not to often we have a packed house because it's just me, my mom and dad and the dogs. on top of that i'm not home to often, staying between there and my grandma, or wherever else I'm usually crashing at. Got some rest, charged the batteries and got my grub on and I made my way to Bottom of the Hill to see From Monuments to Masses (
http://www.monument-masses.com/ ) and they were AWESOME. No vocals, just straight instrumentals, with bold political statements. They also played a new song I wasn't familiar with, but it was tight!!!!! They ended with on of their classic tunes. Afterwards, I headed over to a party with my old high school buddies. I haven't seen some of the guys in a long time, but it was good. We just pick up where we last left off. Good times, good food and always in the company of good friends. I have a lot to be thankful for. Sunday was the day of rest for me. Stayed home, watched football, spend time with the family. Had to make a quick detour in Oakland Chinatown to drop off some paintings for England. A gallery in honor of Phillip Vera Cruz is being organized and I lent one of my pieces. Got back home and I was knocked out... Christmas is next week and I still have some last minute shopping to do.
