So explain to me why my family has a problem with a better city, a better school, and actually helping me succeed?

I found a cheap apartment up in Lexington, it's shared with two other people, and I'd get the bigger bedroom with a private bathroom and a huge walk-in closet.  It's 280$ a month, and at the most would be 180$ for the first month I'd move in, possibly with utilities to pay.  The only thing I'd need is help paying the first month's rent, and my bedroom suite (which, apparently, once again, I've been lied to by my mother) from home.

I call her to let her know, and what does she say? 'Well, I dunno...it's not really yours, it's your grandmothers, and I don't know if she'd let you take it all the way up to somewhere she doesn't know.'
WTF? 'No, I'm going to ask her for money, and my bedroom suite, to move upstate, and not tell her where I'm going!

On a side note, for anyone that might be able to help:  I need to get to Lexington this weekend.  It's not so much a matter of wanting to visit again now, as it is that the guy with the apartment wants to meet and show me the place.  If anyone can help me in any way at all, let me know.

Also, I'm extremely stressed.  Stress, Stress, Stress.  If you need to know, ask.  If you don't already know, or I don't answer when you ask, you don't need to know.
