Now that I am living by myself, I am making an effort to eat more natural/organic foods as well as good quality food (or as we call it in my family "shi-shi"). One of the food items I've decided to upgrade is my butter.
I was watching Scandinavian Cooking on PBS a few weeks ago and in this particular episode the guy made his own butter. The butter just looked so freaking wonderful that I decided that I need to treat myself to the creamy, calorie filled goodness. Only issue is that now that I'm buying the "good" butter, I'm in need of a butter dish. A task you would think is easy, but not so. I'm quite in love with the one from
Nigella Lawson's collection, only issue is that no one in the states is selling it. What - us American's don't like soft butter?
Amanda suggested the
butter bell, which I have heard great things about. I'm just concerned I won't be very good at remembering to change the water every 4 days. Either way, I need to get some sort of butter holder soon because my favorite breakfast treat is wheat bread with butter and vanilla sugar sprinkled on top of it. It was something my grandpa used to make for me as a child (and still does sometimes when I ask nicely).
While we are on the subject of Nigella's kitchen collection - how cute are these
egg cups? I have yet to make the
egg cozies as I am still working on the clapotis, but I will eventually need egg cups for the egg cozies. These may just be the ones. I love the little slivers of buttered toast on the side - what a great presentation idea.
