knitting!

I've been quietly participating in National Knitting Month (NaKnitMo). Instead of pledging a wordcount like NaNoWriMo, you pledge a stitch count. The "standard" pledge (according to the Ravelry group) was 30K. Sounded like kind of a lot, but I figured there was nothing to lose. It came at a good time - I was knitting gifts for twin girls born in September. A hat and sock set for each of them got me about 2/3 of the way to my goal (which surprised me greatly), and then a pair of socks that had languished on the needles since April put me over the top. (The World Series and old V miniseries helped me with both of those.)

Now I'm on to a cardigan I started earlier this fall (maybe over the summer) that's been sighing patiently in my knitting bag. I've got one more sleeve and then the button band to go on that, and then I think I'm on to the sweater i've been working on for, oh, about four and a half years. nice to have the external motivation pushing me to do stuff i like doing anyway. :)
