Nothing So Drastic

So, I found out yesterday that I can go to a party and return unchanged. Go figure...

Went out Saturday night for the (not really) 21st birthday of Carly Bales, and joined in much revelry. There wasn't any beard-shaving, but there were lengthy discussions on dragons and their ability to kick dinosaurs' asses, bears vs. sharks, Rosie O'Donnell and beef jerky, and there was almost an adventure.

"Kareem, lead the way!"--like, everyone
"I don't know!"--me
"LEAD THE MOTHERFUCKIN' WAY, MAN!"--Drunken Caleb
"ALRIGHT! Since I don't know where to go, I'll lead the way with my eyes closed." (spins around with eyes closed, stops, points in a direction, starts walking)--me
"Keep walking."--Drunken Shane
"Make sure I don't die."--me (I had just crossed a road)
"We're right behind you."--Drunken Shane (I can tell by his voice that this is a lie.)
(I open my eyes and turn around) "HEY! Your eyes are open!"--Drunken Shane
"Fuck this, I'm cold. I'm going back inside."--me

Met some interesting girls. Didn't make out with any of them, but I had some good mini-conversations.
I kinda took over Carly's iTunes over the course of the party, I have a bad habit of that. People are going to think I'm a DJ or something. I should carry around mix discs.
I need to buy more party shirts.
I need to get my computer back so that I can get started on those freelance jobs I lined up and get some cash.
I got home from the party at 4. There was a party going on next door, and I overheard some girls just chatting outside my window. I was too tired to do anything about it.

I woke up at 10 this morning to turn off my phone alarm.
I woke up again at 3:30 in the afternoon and decided I should probably stop sleeping.
I probably won't sleep tonight until like 2. Dammit.
Good thing I don't have any classes tomorrow.

I don't really have a documentary anymore. I don't want to talk about it. If you're interested, come up next fall to the screening.

Did I talk about the retracking? As I mentioned many times during my senior year of high school, FSU's film program accepts 15 freshmen and 15 transfers per year. I was denied as a freshman, got in the next year as a transfer. So, there are 30 people in my class (including me, obviously). Right before classes started, we were divided into two tracks of 15. Each track took the same classes, but at different times. F1 and F2 crews are all in-track, so basically the 15 of us in Track 1 saw each other a lot.
Friday afternoon, there was a meeting to come up with the new tracks for next year, since we register for fall classes pretty soon. The higher-ups just put us all in a room and left us to our own devices, not necessarily the best plan.
Last Wednesday, the second years had a meeting to make the crews for their thesis films, which shoot this summer. They only crewed their own positions, meaning they weren't responsible for our positions. They met at 2 in the afternoon.
They finished at 4 in the morning.
Needless to say, we all agreed we weren't going to take nearly that long. We were going to quickly and neatly retrack, and get on with our day.
It took us 7 hours.
I won't go into details, mainly because I'm trying to stay positive, but I will say that there was a lot of talking and not much doing. But finally, we made 2 new tracks, with a good mix of Track 1 and Track 2 in each, and I'm happy with the final result. I'm excited to work with the new people from Track 2, and most of the people I like working with from Track 1 are still around. There's a couple people I'm really going to miss on my F3 set, but that's the meaning of compromise, which I don't think everyone understood.

Anyway, I think I'm done rambling for now.
