The Woes of a Home Owner

Well, for all you people who rent. REJOICE!!

So, last Thursday I notice that there is water coming out from under the floor in our utility room. This room consists of our AC air return(actually part of the wall), the hot water heater, and the washer and dryer. Three candidates for the water leakage. There wasn't any water from under the washer, so I figured it wasn't the culprit. The water was actually coming from UNDER the lenolium in the room, and obviously soaking out into the kitchen. So Friday we had her Father and Uncle come over and help me move the washer and dryer out of the TINY hole in the wall that it is in. Turns out the morons who set this place up were just idiots. The cord for the dryer wasn't even long enough to pull it all the way out of the room. Did I mention there is NO way we could have fit someone back there to unplug it first. *sigh* Guess they got a small child to do it the first time. So we shorted out the plug on the wall and broke the plug. Turns out I was right and the washer wasn't the issue. Course now the dryer doesn't work. Anyway...Turns out it wasn't the hot water heater either. It was my worst fear: the AC unit was responsible for the water. From the best we can tell it is the condensation tray is rusted through and so the water isn't running out the pipe in the back like it is supposed to, it is just dropping right to the floor. However, I have no way to verify this as the air return/heat pump are built into the wall. Yes, that is right, they are covered on three sides and top/bottom with drywall. Genius idea don't ya think?!?!? So now I have to wait until tomorrow between 10-1 for someone to come out and tell me how much I am going to get fucked by this problem. *sigh*

Oh, got the dryer fixed on Sunday. Had to go to Home Depot and get a new plug, and a six foot replacement cable for the dryer. Swapped it out in no time with the help of the Uncle and Father in law again. So at least that is working. Course I had hoped that the problem was the washer all a long because we were already thinking of replacing those. Course that will have to wait now. Since not only do I have whatever it will cost to fix/replace my AC, I have to replace the floor in the kitchen now too. *sigh*

LOVELY weekend.
