So school ended on Thursday, but I don't think that fact has fully sunk in yet. It just feels like it's just a long weekend, then I'll go back to school with a shitload of homework due on the day I get back. The fact that a) I do have summer homework with some due on the very day I get back to school and b) I had to focus my time on packing my stuff for the move to the new house probably didn't help matters. But I'm in my new house, and it's pretty nice. It's further away from school again, but the neighborhood's nice, there's a country field area nearby that I'll check out tomorrow, and I like my new room.
It's probably the smallest room I've ever had. I think all rooms that I ever had always had a built-in closet that I took full advantage of. My new room doesn't have that, so I depend more on a movable rack for my hangers, and my drawers are more full than before. I still like my new room, though. It's size reminds me of a fort or a tree house, and the window is right next to the tall-ish trees on the front yard. It reminds me of Kit imagining that she was sleeping in a tree house in her new bed in 'Meet Kit'.
Even though I like my new room, I have to admit that I'm slightly bitter. We move from one house to another and in another year, I'll just have to move again. All I can think of is that if my mom could have just accepted having our first house (which, except for our neighbor's cat being a terror to our own cats and dog, was just fine) and not go looking for a new one, then we wouldn't be moving around so much. When I was a kid, I always loved old houses where if you looked in the attic, you could find antics that went back generations, people that you didn't even know about until you found it in your attic. My mom collects antic stuff, but so many of them have nothing to do with our family, and we don't have any old stuff that can be one day discovered for the first time in the attic. I hope when I'm older, I rarely have to move houses so I can allow my family history to pile up in the attic.
On a less emo note, I'm going off to the States on July 2nd and apparently,we're going to start off the trip by college surfing. The colleges I"m looking at are in New York, Florida, and San Francisco, CA, so that means we're going to NY first. I've never been to New York, so the fact that I might actually be able to be there on the 4th of July is pretty awesome. I...I actually wouldn't mind seeing the spots that inspired Rebecca's/Samantha's settings and taking a few photos. I could use them as reference if I decide to try adapting the AG stories to comic format (crap I am such a nerd).
Also, last Saturday was the school garage sale, but I hardly got anything, only 5 AG-related books. Besides from not finding much interesting stuff, I figured we were moving, and that it was best that I didn't get too much. Ah well, every year can't be a gold mine.
