Hello hello hello
I have finally decided to update. I just figured my life hasn't been all that interesting so there wsan't any point. My life's still not interesting but I'm home for once on a Friday morning so I thought like Hilary Duff, why not? hehehe. Yes, as you can still see, I'm still so very lame.
Went to Wollongong on Wednesday to see the amazing Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals.
It wasn't a sell out but they played with so much crazy enthusiasm and slick little dance
moves from the bassist that it didn't matter.
The highlights for me were his older stuff eg. glory and consequence and please bleed,
they play with such intensity.
I've gotta say though, as well as realising sigur ros has now opened up this crazy mind set
where I get this sense of calm, where I block out everything and let the emotion of the song completely take me over... Morning Yearning off his Both Sides of the Gun was be a u tiful.
My fingers touch upon my lips
It’s a morning yearning
It’s a morning yearning
Pull the curtains shut try to keep it dark
But the sun is burning
The sun is burning
The world awakens on the run
And we’ll soon be earning
We’ll soon be earning
With hopes of better days to come
That’s a morning yearning
Just a morning yearning
Morning yearning…
Another day another chance to get it right
Must I still be learning?
Must I still be learning?
Baby crying kept us up all night
With her morning yearning
With her morning yearning
Morning yearning…
Like a summer rose I’m a victim of the fall
But am soon returning
Soon returning
You’re love’s the warmest place the sun ever shines
My morning yearning
My morning yearning
Morning yearning…
Got to check out Shoeb's residence. Pretty cool set up. They get catered breakfast and dinner where you have to swipe your card to get in which was an experience in itself when there's two trying to use the card.
In the short time I was there I came to the realisation that I don't think I could've done the whole moving out of home thing (and the non cooking, I don't think I could hack it after a week) Like usual Shoeb's got some pretty nice friends (not just cos they talked to us without thinking we were freaks)
I've gotta stop checking out my friend's friends, I think I do it because it seems like it'd be easier to start something. Not that this theory has really panned out. I'm just kinda stupid and lazy. Speaking of stupid and lazy I'm gonna paste this into my myspace blog hahahaha. No seriously.
At the start of the month I went to Melbourne for a Fair Trade conference.
200 students all in support of Fair trade practices, it was one of the most inspirational
and (fingers crossed) motiviational events that I have ever taken part in. Everyone was able to share
their ideas and make friends while also listening to coffee producers and people from Oxfam and IFAT.
I'm now trying to organise an awareness event on Etiko fair trade/ non sweatshop soccer balls
to take place during June (aka World Cup month) I hope to frack the marketing lady at Westfield
has decided it can take place. (I'll find out today...I'm getting kind of nervous)
I'm also thinking about organising a local music event where bands can play
whilst raising money for Oxfam. Got a few overexcited vollies into this idea,
and a couple of interested bands (go being friends with people in bands hehe)
I think it's gonna take a bit of work though. So help would be much appreciated.
I spoke about Sigur Ros before but realised it's been so long since I last posted
that I didn't even write about my awe inspiring trip to Sydney where I saw them
not once but twice in a week. The MOST beautiful band I have ever layed eyes
(and can you say layed) ears (?) on. I didn't know whether to smile or cry or scream
and underneath the starry sky at the Great Escape festival it was gorgeous.
I also was able to see Silverchair (my favouritest band of all) I loved them of course,
heard some of their new stuff which is a cross between the music of Freakshow
and the lyrics of Neon Ballroom/ Diorama. I was in the second row and could barely see
and could not move the crowd was insane and I'm counting down the days til they tour so
my experience of seeing them live will be much more appreciated.
Going crazy at work. Still the "unofficial" assistant manager. It is quite boring at times.
HELLA boring.
We're not making that much money so I fear we're still completely at risk of closing
which is gonna be heartbreaking. While Alastair was away there was also two incidents of complete fucktards stealing jewellery
(one insane one at Canberra, one quite small but still frustratingly fucked up at Belco)
The you pissed me off column in BMA is gonna get a heap, maybe. hehehe.
To make matters worse the "silly" people at the bank didn't put the right numbers in and so approx ten grand went to some other company or something. ajfklar uailfj lkaj lraukl ajl I don't know if I should've written that but I'm fkajjrakjfla jakljflj jaldjfakl a dk ja.
Ok, as you can see I should listen to some Sigur Ros to calm me down.
Like I said, it wasn't going to be very interesting.
