community pimping!
one hetaliaremix, which the fabulous miaoujones is running! A remix challenge, for those of you who don't know, is one where you're assigned an author and you rewrite one of their stories -- you keep things like character and plot intact, but you can change PoV, style, rating, genre, or broaden or shrink the scope. (Think about all the ways in which people rewrite fairy tales; it's kind of like that. We Invented the Remix, the original popslash remix exchange, explains the concept further, as does Miaou here.)
Signups are until February 6th, and the fics are due by March 18th. So check this one out! I've always wanted to do a remix challenge, enough so that I'm postponing the rarepair exchange thing until after hetaliaremix finishes up.
two halfamoon, a fourteen-day challenge (from February 1-14) celebrating female characters in fandom. The cool thing about this one is that it's not just for fic: vids, recs, art, picspam, icons, meta, fanmixes, and outside links to relevant content are all kosher. The intro post has more information, and prompts are being collected here. I'd love to see more prompts for fandoms I play around in -- especially Claymore, which I kind of marathoned lately and which I will properly pimp out later but YOU GUYS IT'S SHONEN + AWESOME LADIES WITH FASCINATING MULTIFACETED RELATIONSHIPS + ELDRITCH HORRORS WITH TENTACLES + REALLY BIG SWORDS and seriously if you cannot guess why this is Puelbait you have not been reading my journal enough.
