So my hard drive decides to go completely wonky today.
It looks like I'll need to reformat it.
I might be able to salvage some or most of its contents -- I'll know more tomorrow.
After frantically rooting through every backup drive I own, it appears that a few things might be lost for good. Most of my recent challenge work, for example. I have some of the stories copied out in various notebooks. The boy might have others. As for the rest...I don't know. I just don't know. And it makes me want to curl up into a little ball and crawl under a rock.
Also missing are the last three chapters of my novel-in-progress.
If those are gone for good, I will want to smash things. And eat chocolate. A lot of chocolate.
And all this just had to happen the day I start my job.
I think I want to go hide under the covers now. A lot.
EDIT: It looks like I need to ship my laptop off to a professional data recovery service if I want my hard drive back. Time for a whole lot of pleading with my parents.
I don't know what challenge stories I'll be able to finish, especially since the computer I'm using isn't my own. I may still be a little shell-shocked. I don't know.
