So I quit the paper.

My last day is Sept. 29.

I'm going over to the dark side...

...that's right: public relations.

Kinda.Starting Oct. 9 I am the Communications Coordinator for Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina. This means I am responsible for bringing the good word of fair and equitable healthcare to 32 counties

Thank you! It's terrifying and a little depressing to leave reporting behind but I keep telling myself its temporary.

Ooh, what's the long-term plan?

I wish I knew! We're stuck here in NC for a while so I want to stay at PP for that time. By the time we leave we'll probably have kids, so that will be an additional consideration.

My idea is to move somewhere out west and I can work for a paper there.

Are you gunning to get on full time writing for the Herald?

That's AMAZING. I can't tell you how many times I've daydreamed about leaving the Big Bank and getting involved with PP myself. So exciting!

Thank you for the support!! I've always thought I'd volunteer for PP in some capacity. When this job became open I jumped at it.

Are you done being a fugitive from justice yet?

Ah, yes. My case was dismissed last week, so after a $14 fee and a few more hours at the courthouse, I am once again a free woman. I keep meaning to write a post with all the details, but I'm sort of over thinking about it for the moment.

You are working on doing the same, correct? It's really weiord, to think I won't know the news as it happens.

But then again, I'll be home by dinner time, not working weekends and having holidays off will be a given.

I think it's a fair trade.

I'm kinda in a slump with my job right now. The money is good but the stress right now is too high and I'm not happy when I wake up in the morning. I might go into wireless engineering. I need a career change.

a) I thought you deleted your livejournal
b) Some aspects of the paper were making me want to jab a pen through my eye. Other aspects, not so bad. But planned parenthood is such an awesome organization that I'm truly excited about the work I get to do there.

I deleted but then undeleted after joy reminded me that I had like a year of baby memories to transfer over to vox. I'm in that process right now. Call me drama laden.. because I am.
