Summer Reading

Mar 25, 2010 09:39

Hello all,

As I will be starting my MPH program in the fall (focus on community health sciences and gerontology), I want to spend some time this summer reading a bit on some of the public health issues and concepts I'm interested in. But not too heavy- just some good summer reading.

I'm looking for recommendations for great books that are readable and enjoyable-- books that may be relatively light reading but NOT dumbed down. Books that helped you shape your understanding of contemporary public health issues.

Although I'm open to all kinds of suggestions, my main interests are: health promotion in under-served communities, nutrition & exercise, obesity, access to health care, senior citizens, cultural/racial factors in health.

I'd love to get lots of recs. Thank you!
