Kate had been staying under Lorna's feet as much as Lorna would let her, but she had company now and that was AWKWARD and Kate had a bit of timidness around men that she couldn't quite explain. So she thought she'd hit the pub and see if Kevin was back yet ( ... )

Kevin saw her come in. Knew the vampires had left because of him, and didn't really give a damn. They'd better learn their place. If'n he heard of anyone he cared for dying again? Well, it wouldn't just be the perpetrators that got Hunted.

"Here. Blueberry shake." He slid it in front of her, but said no more.

She took the shake, smiling a bit subdued. "Thank you Kevin." He looked rough to her, and that bothered her some. She watched him, jumpy, but took a gulp of the shake. Ok, this was good.

Kevin shrugged. "Guess so." He went to fetch a drink for someone else at the bar.

He came back. "I ain't gonna apologize, Kate." He wasn't sorry. "Ya see somethin' like what I was again, an' ya run an' ya don't stay. Y'hear?"

She wasn't expecting an apology, so she shrugged when he said he wasn't going to. "Ok, I will. Miss Macy ok now?" She hadn't checked - she'd been kinda afraid to go back there, or out at all.

Kevin's shoulders tightened when she mentioned Miss Macy. He hadn't been to see her yet. And he probably should do that. "Dunno. Ain't been t'see." He shrugged. "Jus' got back."

"Oh." She fidgeted, uncomfortable. "I haven't either." More than any warning, Kevin had managed to put a certain amount of fear in her of this place and had been afraid to back to see Miss Macy in case she was still dead when she did.

"Miss Kayako-san's got some pastries." Kevin shrugged. "She's probably alrigh'." He leaned against the bar. "Ya have any more trouble?"

"I wasn't worried 'bout that. Was just worried about her."

She shook her head 'no', some of her hair falling loose. "No, I've been staying out of trouble." She sounded young, with that, as if a young child truthfully promising a parent or sitter they'd behaved but were worried they wouldn't be believed.
