Kate had been staying under Lorna's feet as much as Lorna would let her, but she had company now and that was AWKWARD and Kate had a bit of timidness around men that she couldn't quite explain. So she thought she'd hit the pub and see if Kevin was back yet.
But when she poked her head in the door, her nerve failed her and she paced back and forth for a bit trying to decide what to do. Finally she decided to just go in and hope for the best - only to be met with several vampires who seemed to think leaving NOW was a good idea. She yelped and tried to get out of the way, and got jostled around as they moved around her - no one was being rough, but it was a little much for her. She almost screamed when one of the vampires took her by her shoulders, steadying her outside the flow of the leaving ones, and patting her on the head, gently shoved her inside the door of the pub, whispering, "Go say hi to Kevin kiddo." She didn't see who it was, other than the voice was female.
She fussed with her clothes and smoothed her hair, fussing because someone touched it and ugh, that's her *hair*. She caught her breath, surprise to find she was panting.
Calming down she walked over to the bar, waving a bit timidly to Kevin, wondering what reaction she was going to get.
Kevin saw her come in. Knew the vampires had left because of him, and didn't really give a damn. They'd better learn their place. If'n he heard of anyone he cared for dying again? Well, it wouldn't just be the perpetrators that got Hunted.
"Here. Blueberry shake." He slid it in front of her, but said no more.
She took the shake, smiling a bit subdued. "Thank you Kevin." He looked rough to her, and that bothered her some. She watched him, jumpy, but took a gulp of the shake. Ok, this was good.
She wasn't expecting an apology, so she shrugged when he said he wasn't going to. "Ok, I will. Miss Macy ok now?" She hadn't checked - she'd been kinda afraid to go back there, or out at all.
Kevin's shoulders tightened when she mentioned Miss Macy. He hadn't been to see her yet. And he probably should do that. "Dunno. Ain't been t'see." He shrugged. "Jus' got back."
"Oh." She fidgeted, uncomfortable. "I haven't either." More than any warning, Kevin had managed to put a certain amount of fear in her of this place and had been afraid to back to see Miss Macy in case she was still dead when she did.
"I wasn't worried 'bout that. Was just worried about her."
She shook her head 'no', some of her hair falling loose. "No, I've been staying out of trouble." She sounded young, with that, as if a young child truthfully promising a parent or sitter they'd behaved but were worried they wouldn't be believed.
