I Wii'd myself....

And we now have a new addition to the console family. Yesterday Erica and I went shopping for my birthday pressie, which is a Nintendo Wii. I guess she's given up trying to surprise me for my birthday as I seem to be quite deft at spoiling all of them by somehow guessing on the money at each and every surprise she's ever tried to surprise me with! So yeah.... even though my Birthday is tomorrow, I opened the Wii today :) All I need now is a PS3 to complete the console trifecta!!! Basically the Wii is so we have something we can both play. Due to the huge shortage of women friendly games on the Xbox 360, she figured that this will work well in tandem. Plus it's a good party piece for when friends come to visit. I'll get stuck by the barbecue looking all jealous and everyone having fun and games inside. Okay, maybe I don't like the Wii idea too much after all....

So she ended up purchasing the Wii with Wii Sports, Super Mario Party or whatever it was, and an extra controller for some non-raunchy 2 player fun. It's so much more fun to wii together..... wait, I meant its so much for fun to swing that thing that you wii with together.... no wait, that didn't come out right still. What I actually meant was when you both stand side by side with your wii controller in your hand..... argh screw it, you know what I mean. Filthy Nintendo marketing team.......

Some downsides to it unfortunately. The Wii doesn't output in Hi Definition, which is really a sucky thing in this day and age. Max res is only 480P, which although not bad, is to me quite silly. But the games aren't renowned for their graphics, but more so their interface. I hooked up and road tested WiiSports today and it's not bad. Very boring by myself, so I'll wait until Erica gets home before trying it further. I get really competitive when it comes to gaming, so Erica had better watching. I'll be extremely upset if I don't beat her.... and I don't mean that in a "I'm a wife beater" sorta way.

Not something to be played with the blinds open

Looks to be good fun, and not something one would want to do with  the windows open. And the control interface looks to have plenty of potential. I can't wait for more games to come out that really harness this innovative technology. Looks like it'll be a blast!!

The Nintendo Wii, so much fun you'd wish you could play it whilst you..... wii.
