squealing]My older sister is now engaged! Yay![/squealing]
Her boyfriend of several years proposed two weeks ago and I was the only person besides his immediate family that was told. Elder Sibling wanted to tell the Parental Unites in person but at the same time, she just had to tell someone. So she gave me a call and swore me to secrecy.
I was down in South Texas yesterday to join in the squealing, happy dances and champagne. Getting there was convoluted (to Thalia's house Friday, meet up with Elder Sibling way early Saturday morning at a random gas station, head back Sunday afternoon after a stop by some of the Fiancee's relatives, meet back up with Thalia at another random gas station and then back to school) but totally worth it.
No one "knew" that Elder Sib and Fiance were engaged, but the random visit + my presence = suspicion.
Anyways, when Mom was told, she squealed, hugged, examined the ring (all girls' first reaction) and then did a happy dance while the engaged couple were moving luggage upstairs and using the facilities. It was at this point that the champagne was pulled out of the fridge and sipped throughout the day.
Last evening we went out for seafood with the grandparents. It was very good. I'm now adding redfish to the list of fish that I like. When we got back to the house, Grandmom proved once again that she has an uncanny ability to know what's coming by producing a Waterford vase (shaped like a thistle) for the couple. She hadn't been sure before we got to the restaurant (where both the grandparents were told) so she left it in the car. *rolls eyes*
Nothing's set yet. Elder Sibling and Fiance have to pick the location before anything else can be planned. But I get to be a bridesmaid! Yay!
