Best Albums 2016

8. Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman

This album rounds out the top ten as it depends on it's singles for strength. Having said that "into You" and "Side to Side" are strong fucking singles.

7. Zara Larsson - 1

This one hardly counts as it released back in 2014 I believe. But whatever, I found it early in Q2 and love it. Pure unapologetic pop but different also. Amazing voice and songs and fills the void that Rihanna left when she decided to make shit music. Highlights are Rooftop, Carry You Home and power ballad Uncover.

6. Fifth Harmony 7/27

A strange album/group for me to love but this album just works. Addictive and opens perfectly with it's best song "That's My Girl. "Work from Home" is equal parts brilliant and ridiculous and "Write on Me" is pretty good too.

5. SIA - This is Acting

Again I appear to be harsh with my assessments early in the year, my standards were way too fucking high. A clever idea for an album which stood on it's own despite being written for other artists. "Cheap Thrills" is my favourite unless you count the deluxe edition which includes "The Greatest" which is one of the best songs of the year. "Alive" and "Move Your Body" are also amazing.

4. Lady Gaga - Joanne

I was not a fan of this album initially, it is a massive deviation from the pop amazingness of albums past and I usually have no problem cutting and running from an artist when they suddenly deviate from their usual sound. To be clear the album is above average and has a single AMAZING song. Joanne, which will forever be my song for Bec is a beautiful farewell to a human being lost too soon. "Angel Down" is also a beautiful song worthy of mention.

3. Death of a Bachelor - Panic at the Disco

Having only known a couple of their songs I downloaded this eager for some new music and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the album and knew at that point that it was already a contender for top album of the year. "Victorious" is an epic opener for an album which feels very much like my college days. I feel like I was way too harsh with my assessment on itunes. Half these songs are easily a 4 not a fucking 3. "Dont Threaten Me With a Good Time", "Death of a Bachelor" and "LA Devotee" are epic belters.

2. Kygo - Cloud Nine

Pretty much every song on here is pure gold. The sound is very similar between songs but the collaborations with different artists give each song a unique feeling. Each song evokes different emotions and take me to different places in my life. "Stole the Show" takes me to trains in Germany while "For What It's Worth" takes me to BEc and destroys me every time. 10/14 have 4 stars and that is fucking massive for me. I could literally leave this album on repeat for days and not realise I had done it.

1. Tove Love - Lady Wood

A massive Q4 release which changed the game big time after a disappointing second half to 2016 in life and music. "Influence", "Lady Wood", ah fuck it literally every song is pure gold. I can sing along to pretty much every song non stop. Every song except the intro is 4 stars all ten of the fuckers.
