I cannot even believe that one week from tomorrow is my wedding day. Holy crap, this year has gone by quickly! Granted, day-after-day of counting down to June 20 has not appeared to go speedily by, but when I drive passed the World's Fair Pavilion as I cut through Forest Park (thank goodness for the new Hampton bridge!), I just cannot believe that the day is finally almost here.
At this point, I would not say I am overly stressed. Most of what I have left to get finished is not terribly difficult, although I have a feeling printing the place cards is going to be an ordeal. Everything else involves making sure I am where I need to be each day. (Thank goodness for my planner, Google calendar, and my daily To-Do List!) The thing I'm most dreading is cleaning out my room at my parents' house. Over the last two years, both Kelly and I have used it as a type of storage closet, so now that Kelly has gotten a good portion of her crap out of there, it is my turn to figure out something to do with all of the old clothes, pictures, posters, etc. (Anyone need/want an orange taffeta bridesmaid's dress from the 1970s? Haha, just kidding... how could I part with that?)
In other news, I did get the job at MO Baptist Medical Center. One of the social workers got a job at St. John's as the manager of their department, so I got the call about two weeks ago that they wanted me to come in for a third interview. (By then I was thinking that if I had to go in three times, they better be serious.) At the end of my "interview," which consisted of a tour of the hospital, the manager in HR began discussing benefits and what not with me, and then added, "Well, if you have no more questions, here's your offer letter... we didn't just bring you here for the heck of it!" So this week, along with wedding stuff, has consisted of drug tests, blood draws (and the enormous bruises that come with them... *crosses fingers that it goes away in the next 8 days*), and bizarre mask fittings. (Apparently, anyone working in an environment where someone might have a positive TB test has to get fitted for these glorified painters' masks. That wouldn't be so bad if "fittings" didn't involve sticking my head in an enormous plastic bag and breathing deeply.) I also filled out about 100 forms for Human Resources, only to figure out that some time between returning from the honeymoon and my start date, I will need to redo just about every form in order to show my new last name, address, city of residence, etc. Such is life!
I'm way excited about my facial and hair cut this afternoon. (Facial will be nice, but I am about 3 months overdue on a haircut, so I'm really looking forward to that.) This evening Justin and I are going to see "Up" FINALLY and have one last "date night" before the wedding. Then tomorrow fun times at Rachel's shower, followed by BIG TIME cleaning at the apartment before my Bachelorette shindig. (I do loves me some Hibachi grill and good friends!) And Sunday will consist of even more cleaning over at the parents' house before my Aunt Phyllis and Mo arrive next week. (I have not seen Aunt Phyllis since 2001 when she was in town for my cousin's wedding... CRAZY!) The rest of the week... massage with Mom on Monday, dress pick-up Tuesday, eyebrow wax Wednesday, rehearsal on Thursday, lunch and mani/pedi on Friday, cleaning and errand-running throughout the week... oh, and a wedding next Saturday. Can't forget that! (No worries, it's in the planner.)
