Vancouver was a lovely city, with high-rises with trees on top alternating with modern two-stories in a rather pleasing fashion. The entire city was very green, and the parts along the water beautiful. I got to walk in Stanley Park and along the coast and catch a Whitecaps game (they won against the Dynamo 3-1). There was also an amazing Lebanese food place called nuba. Highly recommended.
We found the Canadian coffee chain Blenz and had a tasty object known as a Nanaimo bar. It contained coconut, custard, and solid chocolate. There was wafer consistency in there somewhere. Unfortunately, John had an ear infection. Fortunately, he still has a ridiculous CON score and we were able to walk all over the place. It's too far north and overcast for me to live, but it is a lovely city (of course, before leaving, I obtained some Timbits from a cheerful man named Vitaly who I seemed to have an odd communication gap with, and I doubt it was language).
The flight to Seattle itself was without comment, and now that we're back we've only been here less than a day, but I'll check on what I missed last time. Dilettante cafe, apparently!
International soccer, meanwhile, has gotten interesting with England and France tying, Netherlands upset, and Germany prevailing thanks to the work of Mats Hummels and Mario Gomez (who usually don't do well on the international stage). Canada seems to care about this- there were posters for Euro 2012 everywhere!
