Sicarius terrosus (Nicolet, 1849)

My latest acquisition, they have arrived from Hamm, Germany, and originate from Chile.

They are cute little creatures, very clumsy, shy and very interesting - and their bit is unique in a way that it doesn't contain any neurotoxins, but a peptid called sphingomyelinase D, which is a dermonecrotixic agent, and can cause skin and muscle necrosis.

I'll update about my bigger (biggest?) acquisition and the St. Pölten fair, too, but it's gonna take more time.
