Children at Play
Last night had to have been one of the happiest nights (as a mother) that I've ever experienced. I watched Mr. Awesome play with Kaiya for about an hour on the tot lot. He literally climbed up on the structure with her and was sliding down the slide and crawling all around on it with her. Granted, he's a LARGE man (tall, broad, BUILT), so watching him kneel, crawl and lumber around was funny and cute to begin with. XDD But Kaiya was constantly laughing, giggling, smiling... she was having the time of her life and I was watching. Had I been in more... appropriate attire (wearing a dress), I'd have gotten up there, too, but it was a bonding experience watching them play together. Mr. Awesome claims he's got the mind of a 3.5 y/o, so that's the perfect age to play with Kaiya LOL But he's so wonderful in general... watching him run around and play with her makes him all the more suitable as a father figure to her. And I said as much to him. I said he'd make a great father (he never had the opportunity) and he said "I know." I said, "don't take this the wrong way... but, I'd have your baby." LOL He laughed and said "that would be great!" HAHAHA He's so cute. I'm sad that he hasn't had an opportunity to have children of his own... he DOES do very well with kids and I can see how much he adores and cares for Kaiya. I've already told him that I trust him enough to leave her in his care (not alone, but like when I had to shower the one morning he was at the house), and I don't even flinch because I know she's in safe hands with him. And having him by my side with her just feels fantastic. I like having another set of hands around to help in general, but knowing the love he has for me and my daughter makes it all the more wonderful for me. And Kaiya likes the extra attention, too ;) So, yeah, last night's play date was uber-awesome.... I hope we can make those happen more often ^_^
Today is going to be rough, but good. Daycare had to close, so I dropped Kaiya at my mom's (GiGi) til 230, then I'll pick her up and take her visiting to my grandparents. Derek will get her after he's off work and then I'll go back to work for an hour. Then Mr. Awesome and I are taking a road trip tonight. *giggle* I'm going to spend extra time with Kaiya today and then have a great evening with my man. Just go with the flow, enjoy life, and be flexible.... things can change in an instant and you have to adapt to anything that might come your way. I've learned that over the last two years after becoming a parent. It can't all be structured.... but some planning is still necessary in my own life. Just so I have all bases covered lol Ciao.
