Hi all! Having been castigated by my dear Internet Friend Amy (da Tigger) about my lack of updating, I am here to tell you all what's going on. Also I am procrastinating about the dishes over there and the wedding stuff and data entry in front of me. So.
HOMEOWNERSHIP!
Cameron and I have had some homeowning ups and downs. Examples:
*Plumbing has stopped working. Leak runs over washer, killing it.
*We are very sparing with use of plumbing. Washer starts working again!
*Just kidding. Washer is dead.
*Plumbers! So many plumbers!
*Entire yard needs to be dug up to fix pipe.
*Except garden! Garden is spared!
*Rest of back yard now = giant pile of dirt.
*Turns out that the pipe problem was actually that the contractor before we bought the house connected our house to an inactive sewer pipe, meaning that there wasn't backup because of the hundred-year-old pipe... it was because the pipe was not connected to the sewer. WHAT. This is a problem, you guys. A problem that it cost us like five thousand American dollars to fix.
*The plumbers we brought in encouraged Cameron to sue the prior contractor. WHAT. They're not wrong, though.
*Also our washer is still busted.
*But today while cleaning up we found our HSA warranty, which covers it! Hurrah!
*So SOMEDAY SOON we will be able to wash clothes at our house again. HURRAH!
INTERNET ADDICTION!
I am still on the internet more than is probably helpful for a person. However, instead of LJ I've been mostly obsessing over
Mark Reads Harry Potter (sequel to the (in)famous
Mark Reads Twilight (So You Don't Have To)), along with my normal haunts (
Gin and Tacos,
Project RunGay, and (to a lesser extent)
Pandagon). I am still terrible at keeping up with FaceBook (it's just not that interesting! I'm sorry!) but I have been listening to Pandora nonstop (at school, Opera or Ladytron stations; at home, Klezmer!). So that's cool.
WEDDING PLANNING!
It's going OK. We are in the crunch zone now (34 days and counting!!!!!!!!!) but Cameron and I have successfully cast our rings, sent out invitations, etc. Now we're waiting on reply cards and figuring out final details. Good times. Hopefully I won't snap and kill anybody, but I feel pretty chill (for a bridezilla). I do still have like 42985704398754 details that I "have" to take care of, but I have my dress someone worth marrying and a place that will serve food & booze and play music after, so I think we'll be ok.
WORK!
I'm sort of figuring things out and I feel less like I'm drowning. Doing a new job instead of a job I was pretty dang good at is still sort of frustrating but I think that, given some time, I'll be good at this job too. Eventually. ;)
