Thank you so much for writing for me! I really like characters that have previously had adversarial relationships now forced to rely on each other (and possibly fall in love), hurt/comfort that results from being a tortured badass, age differences and mentorships that turn angsty, and plots, schemes, and machinations that drag people into commiting acts of moral ambiguity in order to prevent a greater wrong.
DNWs:
Nominated character death, animal harm, extreme underage (16 and up is fine), bodily fluids (blood is fine), unrequested pairings involving nominated characters.
Apostle (2018)
Relationship: Thomas Richardson/Malcolm Howe
I never really got into The Wicker Man, but this hits all the sweet spots for me in regards to "man goes to island to find missing person and meets creepy cult." I love the ending especially, with Thomas taking on the role of the island god and Malcolm going from sort of a sad resignation on losing his daughter, cult, and goddess to a kind of hopeful recognition that hey, I have someone new to adore and worship.
Yeah, I'm definitely into this for the supplicant/god aspect of it, with Malcolm wanting to devote himself and Thomas gradually accepting it and his new fate. So I'm cool with the blood drinking aspect, the weird body horror, the very likely canon tentacle porn (he has control over vines, so....)
Prompts:
Malcolm wants to show the new god how much he appreciates his sacrifice. What better way then to take care of him, feed him, bathe him, and possibly give himself fully to him? Or the other way, if that's what the god wants. He's not picky.
The goddess didn't tell the cult beforehand that a good substitute for blood sacrifice and murder was ritual sex (look the 1600s were a different time and she was a younger god). But Thomas got those memories and he decides that might be a little less painful (and that's what all the cool fertility gods do).
Jennifer and/or Andrea return to the island after some time. How do they react to the notion that the cult might still exist in some form? Or that their relatives might be in some sort of devout relationship? And I can totally be persuaded that Jennifer and Andrea hook up after it's all over, so if you want to throw that in, that's cool.
Sneakers (1992)
Relationship: Martin Bishop/Cosmo
"Martin and Cosmo's final confrontation, especially Cosmo's cries of "I don't expect just anybody to understand this, but I do expect YOU to understand this!", and his plaintive pleading at the end of "Don't go. Don't go." positively smacks of Cosmo's unrequited love for Marty."
Basically, what the TV tropes entry says - rewatching this movie, it's pretty clear Cosmo's torn between being furious at Martin for his perceived abandonment, and desire to work with him once again as partners (in all senses). And I am all about the angst, the schemes against each other, and the way that the ending leaves their relationship unresolved.
Prompts:
It seems the movie leaves a couple of big plot points dangling at the end - Cosmo's still out there with the Mafia and Martin and the gang are kind of being public with their hacking. What happens when people do the math and Martin has to go on the run from multiple people with Cosmo, who may or may not also be on the run?
I like the ending, but it's a little unrealistically happy - what if it's just a dream and Martin wakes up to Cosmo scowling at him because he fell off the roof at the climax (something broke his fall, but still...) But it turns out that near death is enough to change Cosmo's mind about his anger towards Martin.
Martin doesn't refuse Cosmo the first time he asks him to join him, or Cosmo decides that he'll have Martin working with him no matter what cost (or threat/blackmail). How do they work together, considering Martin willingly does at the end something similar (even if it's small scale) to what Cosmo wanted all along?
Deadwood
Relationship: Seth Bullock/Al Swearengen
I blame the new Deadwood trailer for this one - just the sight of seeing Seth and Al sitting down and having another one of their charged conversations made me giddy all over again. Because I love these two assholes and their knock down, drag out fight in Season 2 only made it clear to me that their hate turned to grudging respect sex would be amazing.
So give me the delicious banter, the constant shifting alliances that mean they're just as much fighting each other as they are the enemy, and if you want to throw in something where Al and Seth realize that maybe a rivalry can involve some banging on the side, I would be much obliged. I'm not sure where the movie will leave the two of them, so if it does anything that kills either one of them off, please feel free to ignore/retcon it.
DNWs: Nominated character death, animal harm, extreme underage (16 and up is fine), bodily fluids (blood is fine), unrequested pairings involving nominated characters.
Prompts:
Seth's brother survives and he comes to Deadwood much sooner - no Alma, no Hickok, but plenty of repressed violence and a friend that's really hoping nothing will set it off this powderkeg. Al's more than willing to be that match.
Or how about something where Seth doesn't take as straight a path as he intended and he ends up under Al's employ (ex-bagman for a certain magistrate? on the run after commiting a justified, if slightly illegal act of vengeance?). Al appreciates Seth's expertise, but is a little more concerned with his interpretation of certain directives. Seth doesn't give a damn.
I'm very certain the movie will joss my desires in new and delightful ways, but I would like to see what happens when Seth and Al meet up again. Florid dialogue? Naturally. Schemes and machinations to bring down the newest common enemy? Perhaps. Sexual tension that explodes into actual sex? Please.
Knightfall (TV)
Relationship: Landry du Lauzon/Talus
Mark Hamill is to blame for this one. How dare he show up in the second season of a show I only passingly watched and immediately capture my attention by being the firm hand that smacked down our hero and told him what a bad boy he was? And then how dare he have a tender moment where he rides into rescue him, gives a touching speech (and touches him), and rides back with the two of them on a horse, cementing their bond forever.
So yeah, Talus and Landry are definitely my id - stern mentor/broken hero badasses with tragic pasts that lead to ass kicking and hurt/comfort. Please give me more of these two saving each other and then giving religiously cryptic speeches that secretly hide how much they love one another.
Prompts:
Okay, that entire scene with Talus saving Landry has so much potential - the ride back to the Templars, the aftercare once everyone's done praying, the obvious time skip where suddenly Landry is a brother again. I would love to see something exploring the scenes we didn't see (and the shipping I can hope for).
It's finale time and Talus has just taken out a ton of guards while Landry murdered the king. Where do they go from here? Does Landry get to save Talus this time? Does Talus have to get Landry to safety, since you know, he's a regicide now? Is there hiding out while they patch up each other's wounds and argue about the future of the Templars?
Role reversal - Landry never has his affair and remains a loyal (and celibate) Templar, when he's asked to bring in an embittered, former master who's lost his way, but whose knowledge is desperately needed. Talus, for his part, is reluctant to trust any Templar, even one as noble and stalwart and unfortunately attractive as the young man now asking for help.
