long over due update

So, since I've last updated, a lot has been going on. I finished my student teaching at the end of November, right before Thanksgiving. I've felt like I fell off the face of the earth, but I had so much paperwork to do during that period before graduation on December 13th, that it consumed my life, just trying to get everything done. ISU has us go through so many hoops and do soo much paperwork that we hardly have any free time. But thankfully, it's all over. As of Dec. 13th, 2008, my diploma has been proudly sitting on my wall next to that of Carroll's. (Plus, I'm happy because I made the Dean's list for the last semester.)

Since then, I have been a substitute teacher for a number of school districts in the area, plus I tutor 4 kids, so I keep pretty busy. Some days I'm called to sub, others, I'm not, like today. But the nice thing about it is that I'm able to accomplish a lot that needs to get done, like filling out a crap load of applications to teach in districts. Literally, since I've been awake, I have been on my computer filling out applications, and I'm only half way through the stack of districts I'm applying to. To top it off, I haven't been able to fill out the statement portions (which I plan on typing up today. Huzzah for standard questions!) and I'm still waiting for two letters of recommendation to upload as well. So once I have all of that collected, I can finish off all the applications. Today, I've been getting all of the other usual stuff put in, such as education, work experience, references, student teaching, etc. What's frustrating about all of this is many of these districts have my resume and reference sheet, so they already have 3/4 to all of the information I'm typing in. So why are we forced to retype everything and send it in? Now, they'll have two copies of the same information instead of one. (The funny thing is, one district said that they can scan all of the information on the resumes into their system for us. Why can't most districts be like that?) So this is my penance for Lent, I suppose, having to fill out these mundane and repetitive applications. (Each application, except for one, has the same application and questions, it's driving me crazy).

So now I'm off to go get something to eat and continue my application before my tutoree comes tonight.
