well i'm just getting over the flu, i dont think i've ever had it before, it sure takes a lot of out of you though. monday and tuesday i would get exhausted if i tried to sit up for more than an hour so those two days consisted of sleeping for about 3 hours and waking up for about an hour and then passing out for another 3 hours.
so yeah the weekend started out with a bus trip to napier where i was to stay on a farm for a weekend, a required trip through the program i went through. i think i caught the bug on the bus down there. we ate lots of meat and slept a lot on the farm. we went wine tasting and say the black rock beach which was formed only 70 years ago, in fact half of napier rose up out of the ocean in an earthquake in the 1930's. on saturday we ate a late lunch consisting of lasagna made with minced lamb meat which i dont particularly like lamb meat and thought it tasted funny but ate it anyway. after being really stuffed full we toured the farm we were staying on which is primarily hills. this did me in by the time we got back i felt miserable. i retired to my room to rest. at dinner i sat and nibbled some bread but i was feeling pretty sick and we had only eaten like 4 hours earlier, they at drake for dinner. i slept miserably tossing and turning because my whole body ached. in the morning i ate a little cereal dry, then we drove up to napier hill to see the beautiful views. i was feeling a little better then and even ate an apple before we left the bus station. the bus down was awful, i started feeling ill again and then the bus got a flat tire. we had to drive slowly to the nearest tiny town and wait 1 hour for a tire to be driven to our location and then another 45 minutes for them to put it on, i threw up the apple i had eaten while we were stopped. so we arrived about 2 hours late, and caught a taxi home.
at home i was feeling a bit better so i ate dinner of potatos and maybe some beet root. then i feel asleep for 3 hours, woke up to vomit. after that i wasnt able to sleep much my entire body just ached and ached and i was miserable. around 4am there was a earthquake at first i thought i was just being extra dizzy but then i realized it was an earthquake so i got up and stood in the doorway, after teh earthquake i threw up again (nasty stuff too). monday morning i called and complained to my dad, who told me to goto the medical center which i was going to do anyway but they didnt open till 8:30, luckily for me they arent as busy as the evergreen medical center and they could see me at 9am. the doctor looked down my throat and in my ears and listened to my back and said (after i explained how i felt) that i did have the flu and he gave me a pamphlet that said to rest, drink fluids and take asprin. so thats what i did, of couse i had to goto the store and get some juice first but that was good because i didnt want to attempt to walk up my monsterous hill, so i took a taxi from the grocery store. the whole of monday i spent sleeping and i think i kept 3 crackers down which is all i ate. i was pretty weak. i went to the alpine club meeting in the evening just to make sure i didnt win any prizes :-). tuesday more sleeping but i managed to eat a little bit of soup and bread. by that evening i had a bowl of pasta and kept it down, after that is just been slowly regaining my strenght and i went to classes on wednesday and made my self feel better. my lymp nodes are still really swollen though, which is more annoying than anything.
