I think it might be dead....
The iProg may well have played its last epic...
I unplugged it from the computer in work today, as I do most days, but bizarrely instead of the usual screen (once it has stopped saying 'do not disconnect') it showed a screen like a very old fashioned mac (that old font is unmistakable) with a tick in the middle saying 'it is safe to disconnect'. Which is obviously a lie because when I restarted it it gurgled a bit, then restarted, then gurgled a bit, then restarted....... you can guess the rest.
The time between gurgles and resets isn't long enough for the PC at home to sense its presence, and hence iTunes can't see it either, so I can't even reformat it or reinstall the software like the website suggests. I can't even turn it off, so it's now gurgling and resetting itself into oblivion.
It is, I suspect, around 4 years old, and has been about a bit. I've made an appointment at the "genius bar" (a name I find so utterly cringeworthy I had to pause before typing it) at the Apple Shop (an apple store is where you keep fruit at an orchard) tomorrow morning, but something tells me it'll become an appointment at the checkout. Unless there's something magic they can do I'll be buying a new one. I can't survive long without mobile music....
