The firewall continues. Oddly enough, I was able to view LJ on Friday, so I planned to make a massive post today only to find I was blocked again today. What a wonderful corporate world I live in...

As I type this, I have just finished one bottle of the greatest ale in the world, and I'm hearing S crumpling up paper as she's attempting to put 25 chocolate bunnies into a box. That's going to be our souvenir from America when we attend a big lunch date in Tokyo on Saturday.

Yes, 36 hours from now we will be departing Atlanta en route to Japan. This will obviously be a quite different trip, as we have no idea how A-chan is going to react to the flight, the 13-hour time change, the futon as opposed to the crib, the hordes of people all clamoring to check her out...but we can't wait! Not so much of a tourist vibe we'll be going on this time although there are a few concessions. We'll be staying in Yokohama at a weekly mansion for the most part, although we're planning several excursions to Tokyo and there will be a 2-day trip to Izu, a beach area famous for its onsen (or hot springs), which may ring familiar with you if you saw the classic Yasujiro Ozu film Tokyo Story. We'll be visiting the Edo Tokyo Museum which recreates the history of Edo/Tokyo to reportedly stunning detail and they'll also have a Hiroshige exhibition going on which is always welcome. And my two tourist requests are food-related, one to visit the world-famous Tsukiji Fish Market & one to visit a fugu restaurant. And assuming I survive the latter, I'll probably write another travelogue to tell you how it was along with the rest of the trip. Not sure exactly how it'll unfold this time, but rest assured with the onsen visit there will probably be another story of my naked exploits. And it should be mentioned that the aforementioned luncheon we'll be attending will be at a soba restaurant with 20 of S' friends from junior high, high school, and college, and in fact I'll be the only male in attendance so I'm sure I'll make a dumbass out of myself yet again.

And that's all I'll probably write for now. I had originally hoped to make a long post detailing my love for longtime Atlanta stalwarts DQE, who put on a 20th anniversary show last week that was the first concert I attended in a year, but I probably don't have the ability to do so now. Blame those trappist monks in Rochefort. But I at least wanted to let you know that I'm about to leave this continent in case any of my fans (hah) wonder where their little virtual friend is...namaste my friends, and we'll see you in daylight savings time...
