So I'm nearly done listening to "Team of Rivals", about Lincoln and his administration, and I just got to the point where he read the Gettysburg Address. I honestly think that teaching history to children is somewhat of a waste - I mean, I know we need them to learn, but I know for SURE I never appreciated history the way I do now that I'm "old". I must have heard this address hundreds of times - I am sure I had to memorize it - but hearing it today in context, after hours of listening to the back story that brought us to where we are, I broke out in goosebumps and got tears in my eyes.
