I used to enjoy it when neo-cons were wrong all the time; now I realize they don't care what they are so long as they are opposed to us...

Thirty years ago, religious types still understood that it was wrong to kill. But back then, they didn't consider a fetus, even a very far along fetus, to be a full person -- "according to Exodus 21:22-24, the destruction of the fetus is not a capital offense"…

The MPAA simply has no idea what their rating systems do. They believe it informs the public of the content, but it does so much more than that, and they act oblivious to that fact (or they pretend to be oblivious until a major media conglomerate tells them to change a rating). -- At this point, I find them irrelevant. Common sense should tell you what is in the movie/documentary, "Bully" . Common sense should tell you that people should watch it, not despite the offensive material within it, but because of it -- to see it in the true light of the outside observer…

Can't find cold treatment, Pseudoephedrine, because the state's meth-curbing law has made the sale of Pseudoephedrine impossible to buy? Then perhaps it is easier in the state you live in to buy meth -- and turn it BACK into Pseudoephedrine instead…

"In September 2009, after admitting to my parents that I was atheist, I was abruptly woken in the middle of the night by two strange men who subsequently threw me in a van and drove me 200 mi. to a facility that I would later find out serves the sole purpose of eliminating free thinking adolescents." -- religious brain-washing camps...

…you might ask why these are still legal. The truth, as I've long ago noted, is that certain neo-con politicians are protecting them…

Science publishing giant Elsevier has pulled its support from the Research Works Act, a bill that would have restricted the ability of scientists doing government-funded work to place their papers with open access journals. The action follows a scholarly and scientific boycott of Elsevier, and has led to the collapse of the bill...

We've talked a lot about how copyright law and the DMCA can be abused to take down legitimate, non-infringing content, interfering with one's free speech rights. And we're always brushed off by copyright maximalists, who insist that any complaints about taking down legitimate speech are overblown. -- So isn't it interesting that we've just discovered that our own key anti-SOPA blog post and discussion... have been blocked thanks to a bogus DMCA takedown?
