Thanks everyone for the kind words. Today was a bit better.
Apparently, our student was sleeping on the couch when someone fired about 40 AK-47 rounds into the house. The guy they were aiming for got hit. He's got a history of rape, drug use and activity, etc. Great guy to have in the house...
At any rate, the little guy is in serious condition. I heard he's on a ventilator and that they had to remove pieces of his lungs and diaphragm, but that he's starting to stabilize. That was a bit of good news, although he's not out of the woods by any means. Saw the nice elderly couple across the street on the news and they had a lot of nice things to say about our kid...brought a tear to my eye.
Not a praying man...I still can't reconcile an 11 year old being shot by some gang member as part of some larger plan horsecrap, but for those of you praying in my stead...thanks
