Trans Fat

I hate it! To save a few pennies millions of food items now contains Trans Fat because of the use of partially hydrogenated oils. New York is join the likes of Chicago in banning the use of Trans Fat in restaurants [Article]. I wish this could be applied everywhere.

It's legislation that Trans Fat has to be listed on all nutritional information in the US because the FDA say the safe limit of Trans Fat is 0gs a day! Why the fuck is it legal then?! This is almost equivocal of allowing minors to buy cigarettes or allowing them to get wasted! If kids are not allowed to ingest or inhale anything that is considered deterimental to health, because they "are not responsible enough to make that decision", why is Trans Fat different? Shouldn't all products containing Trans Fat include a label that indicates to be sold to those 21 and older only?

Two things that not all people are not aware: Trans Fat is there to stay; you ingest it, it stays in your body for life! And, something that is Trans Fat Free could actually contain 0.5g of Trans Fat per server. This is why you'll see a increase in serving per container in food products. Look for "partially hydrogenate oil" in the ingredients.

The whole food industry sucks! There is a whole nomenclature to indicate that a product doesn't contain something. The word "Free" doesn't actually mean free-of as it would suggest. Fat Free, Caffeine Free, Sugar Free products all contain what they say they are free of. If it indicates "Contains No..." that means it really has none!
