It's commendable that you're telling her to go to therapy, but really you can't make someone want to change--they'll only change if they want to. I have the same dynamic with my boyfriend sometimes--he has all this internalized transphobia and shame and I really want him to see a therapist who can help him with it, but he's so stubborn and insists that there isn't a problem. He does the same thing about not wanting to go to the doctor too, even if there's actually a health problem. So I totally feel you on how frustrating that can be, to want to help someone who doesn't want to be helped.

that said, you are absolutely correct. I am going to have to learn to put my own needs first at some point, at least if I want to survive this relationship.
