DREADLOCKS, BULLHORNS, AND COPS- OH MY!

You may or may not know that my dad is a research scientist at the oregon primate research center...well anyways, I guess there was quite a bit of excitement at my house this evening. Around 8:00, a well known activist-for-hire by the name of "Mike D" rang our doorbell. Somehow, one of the animal rights extremist groups got ahold of my dad's home

What a bunch of nuts. What sort of research does your dad do anyways?

He does medical research. The crazy thing is that these people dont understand that these monkies get treated better at the center then they do at a zoo. The lab has so much scrutiny that there are always tons of vets, psychologists, and assistants on hand to make sure that the monkies have as much stimulation as possible. These animals are so difficult to get approval to do research on that the scientists all value the animals lives very highly. The reason they study monkies is because they are so similar to humans (they go through menopause and stuff) so they can monitor their life cycles/hormones over the long term. No one takes the death of a primate lightly.
