DREADLOCKS, BULLHORNS, AND COPS- OH MY!
You may or may not know that my dad is a research scientist at the oregon primate research center...well anyways, I guess there was quite a bit of excitement at my house this evening. Around 8:00, a well known activist-for-hire by the name of "Mike D" rang our doorbell. Somehow, one of the animal rights extremist groups got ahold of my dad's home address (apparently we're unlisted for this very reason).
So this Mike D character had brought a group of young college girls and a bullhorn into our street in order to make a commotion. I guess that these guys had planned to make quick hits at three peoples houses this night but my dad gave them a lot more trouble then they asked for.
After asking them to get off our property he took them completely by surprise when he chased them down the street in his socks with a camera. I guess the Mike D guy grabbed my dads wrists and tried to play off that he was doing a citizens arrest because my dad was harrassing them. At this point there were some wittnesses so my dad let the guy hold his wrist and smiling, shot back "lets wait for the cops then." 911 finally got there with three cop cars and they managed to get all their info. From what they cops told my parents, the young girls were probably told this would be a fun, easy job and my dad had freaked them out so bad they most likely wouldnt do it again.
Of course, I wasnt home for any of this :-P but I wish I could have seen the looks on their faces when my dad started running after them.
