I bought our tickets yesterday--the tickets that will send us off on our new and adventurous life in Central America. I'm excited and nervous all at once. There's a lot to get done before we move.
I've been reading up on gardening, composting, and especially gardening in tropical climates. It seems that most of what I'd want to grow will work in that climate (not really surprising, since most of those fruits/veggies are basic Latin American culinary staples) but as I've never attempted gardening before (nowhere to do it... and having a pot of herbs in the kitchen doesn't count) it will surely be an adventure.
In other news, Marcus' funeral is on Saturday and there's a visitation tomorrow afternoon. I stopped by their house earlier this week and visited for a bit and they are all doing surprisingly well, especially the kids. It's amazing to see how they cling to the positive and choose to laugh and smile as they remember him, rather than allow the sadness to take over. It's beautiful really. As I said to his mom, you'll have a lifetime to be sad, it's wonderful that you're choosing to celebrate his life right now. They really are such a wonderful family.
I started a cross stitch project for the new abode, and I think I'm going to go work on it now.
