How can people be so empty headed? My encounters with so called "normal" people have reinforced my feeling that the corporations that control this country are finally acheiving their goal of converting people into at best simple consumer sheep and at worst meer(sp) food for the debt machine. Individuality is a fad to most. Simply dressing like you're an individual or occasionally spurting out verbatim some tv soundbite is enough to placate those who decide the subject's coolness.
Those who think for themselves or even slighty out of the box are shunned from the group at large. Examples of this surround the average "American" daily. The chess club nerd to Ron Paul in the 2008 election.
This makes me wonder how a society based primarily on appearances can last. This must be what it felt like just before Rome fell.
The popular media is filled with examples of the nerd, the outcast, and whatever other negative social label one can apply suddenly becoming cool/popular by getting a simple makeover. What this reenforces to me is not that its better to learn what's inside the book its better to simply change the cover.
What I'm saying is essentially that our system is BROKEN and no one seems to care to fix it.
On a totally different note I only have two more days left at vzw. Again I'm excited but still a little scared of the change. My level and quality of work has been in a free fall for almost three months now but the last week has been truly prodigious as far as lack of productivity, and I think its a barrel of laughs! Doing nothing has never been more fun.
