call me doctor
Yesterday I successfully defended my dissertation. Pending minor revisions, I am now a doctor. Hell yeah!
Everyone on my committee complimented me on my writing, so I'm really happy about that because I do strive to be a clear and interesting writer (in fact, one of my chairs said that my writing was a credit to my late mentor, Alan Dundes, which almost made me tear up). Most of my committee's contentions were minor or theoretical in such a way that I can address them by retooling and reframing my introduction.
So, yeah, I am extremely pleased to be at this stage of the journey. I still don't know where I'm ending up, but I've got a supportive partner and family, so I think everything will be okay.
