life is good, but not very post-worthy

The past few weeks have sped by, it seems. Things are good, and things are keeping me busy, but these things are not the same things that make for lots of entertaining LJ posts. I continue to read books and articles for my dissertation research; I continue to dance and run and climb and hoop a lot; I continue to cook for/with friends; sometimes I travel, and mostly I dwell in an apartment that is messy with crafting supplies, costuming bits, and clutter ranging from cooking magazines and wine bottles to old folklore monographs and fake flowers.

GenCon is this week--I'm excited because being a guest performer is always fun, and we of Different Drummer have been preparing for our performances seriously all summer between piecing together our numerous roving sets throughout the con and choreographing/polishing our one big performance as the pre-show for the costume contest (which has an audience of, like, hundreds--exciting stuff!). I've been making hairpieces and jewelry to sell, and oh, I've been practicing some hooping solos because I'll be performing with a hoop as well as just doing tribal and tribal fusion belly dance!

Also on the dance front, I've been teaching a core-oriented belly dance class at a local (and awesome) studio called Panache, and this week I'm also starting to teach a DanceFit class for them. I love exploring dance concepts with students, so this has all been great fun.

Time for a run. Hopefully I'll have fun pics and stories post-GenCon!
