And I never called her.
=(
I wore the earrings she bought me today...and the jacket I bought while she was with me.
It's amazing how influential she was. I don't think there's another teacher (besides Campbell or Moore) who would have sparked the same response among former students. Between 9 and 10 today I think almost everyone in my old AP class found out, and even kids from years before then have sent me messages about it.
It's not the fact that she's gone...I mean, I know she's in a better place, and I know she lived a very full life. It's the fact that I wanted to tell her about everything that I was doing and I wanted to tell her when I graduated that I was still going to be an english teacher. I wanted to tell her that my lit professor reminds me of her but doesn't teach Donne nearly as well, and that every time we go over a poem from AP english I remember all the things she said about it. Who's going to be in charge of graduation? Who's going to prepare the seniors for their AP test? Who's going to write the best recommendations? Who's going to give all those students an appreciation of literature...?
As Ashley Green put it, "She was like our momma at Stratford!"
I don't think a lot of us would be who we are today if it wasn't for her. Thanks, Mrs. O. I'm glad you get to be with your mom again. =)
