Some of today's amusing discoveries:
1. Low-cal cookies. Browsing at Safeway, I was looking for something to snack on. During the day I like savoury snacks, but in the late night (plenty of those now!) I prefer sweets. Now, I know there are really good cookies out there (especially the homemade ones) but store-bought cookies are always just so-so - even the full-calorie, full-fat ones. The low-cal ones tend to consist mainly of dust. Comparing Nutritional Information Panel on several packages, I finally came to the good old ginger snap: 5 cookies amount to 110 calories. Compare that to two oatmeal cookies or two "diet" fudge cookies. The other great thing is, who wants to eat more than 5 ginger snaps at a go?!
2. Twitch City. It's coming out on DVD next month! For those unfamiliar, it was a short-lived (13 episodes in all) CBC comedy set in Toronto's Kensington Market. It features the always hilarious Don McKellar and a host of Can-Con celebs (including the band Sloan as a foursome of neo-Nazis). I really enjoyed this show when it was on but since I didn't have cable I didn't bother taping the episodes (lots of static), so I've been pining for its DVD release. Good things come...
