Catty rests her cheek in the crook of her elbow, resting on her side as she looks at Kyp. The air outside is warm, still, and it's relaxing, to say the least. The night air and the company. She tries to do things on her own, but deep down, she's lonely. Always lonely, so when she first invited up to her favorite spot with feigned reluctance after trying to sneak out in the middle of the night (and really, why did he have to be good at making that horribly sad face?) she was honestly happy he came with.

The urge to sleep covers her like a warm blanket, but she stifles a yawn as she continues. “So I hid in the bushes, watching her with this guy. Just in case, you know? I didn't want Vanessa to be hurt.”

Kyp stares at her with wide eyes. “So... Were you the one she thought was watching her?”

She laughs tiredly, nuzzling her arm without thought. “Probably... But it gets worse. These guys snuck up on me. I didn't hear them, didn't see them. They just showed up out of the dark and grabbed me. That's... never happened before, so I completely shut down. All I could think of was somehow warning Vanessa, so I ripped my amulet off and left it there.”

She is babbling, she knows it, but she can't stop it. He's comfortable and easy to talk to, and she has been silent for so long.

“They kidnapped you?” There's a sharp edge to his voice, one that warms her as she smiles.

“It happened a couple of years ago, so it's okay. I got away. But that's how I found out about what I am. Vanessa came to rescue me, and she told me. 'We're goddesses, Catty, Daughters of the Moon.' It... made me happy, to have that sense of connection. And the people who kidnapped me? They were followers of this ancient evil Daughters of the Moon have been battling for thousands of years,” she continues to explain, her voice growing quieter.

He moves so that he's lying on his stomach next to her, his cheek cradled against his arms as he watches her. “What... were they going to do with you?”

“Well, they used me as bait for Vanessa. They were going to try and get us to cross, or I guess... Try to get Vanessa to cross and destroy me.” She should feel odd admitting that, but there's a happy grin stretched across her lips. These are some of her favorite memories. In the early days, before they realized how completely dangerous their lives were going to be, before everything went wrong. “But then the other two Daughters showed up, and we were united, the four of us. We beat the Followers, and I... I found sisters.”

“These people were evil, then. And you four were heroes?” His voice has that easy tone of awe, and it makes her happy that she's talking about what she is-was-because it wasn't as if anybody else really knew what they did. Here, the Jedi were out and open, and everyone was free to need them or despise them to their hearts' content.

Back home... Back home only a few people knew what she had done, what the others had done, and even then...

She yawns before nodding. “We sucked at being heroes,” Catty admits. “But we did our best to keep people safe.”

He's silent for awhile, and she uses the opportunity to close her eyes. Just for a minute, a second, until he asks her something else, until he brings the conversation back. But maybe it's better that they're quiet, because she's afraid of the things she might say.

“That's what's important for a hero, isn't it?” Kyp finally asks, his eyes sweeping over her. It takes only a second to realize she's fallen asleep, and a small smile tugs at his lips as he sits up. She's curled into a ball, her face hidden in her arm. There's a calm surrounding her, a look of peace on her face, and he has to admit... She's pretty cute like that. Almost defenseless, like a small kitten.

He doesn't want to disturb her, not when she's sleeping like that, but he doesn't want to leave her out here. Easily, carefully, he leans over her, pulling her closer to him until she's resting against his chest. There's a pause, as if he's unsure if she'll wake up and yell at him, but all she does is murmur softly, fingers balling into his shirt as he stands up.

She's light, barely anything as he walks back down to their apartment. Not that he has ever assumed that she would be heavy, or thought of carrying her, but the way she carries herself... Her face presses into his shoulder.

Like this, Catty seems much less intimidating and hard.

The door to the apartment opens with a soft whoosh, but he still pauses to make sure that it hasn't woken her up. Satisfied, he makes the walk to her room without incident, placing her as gently on the bed as he can manage, his fingers holding hers as he uncurls them from his shirt. His heart's beating a little faster than it was before at the touch, and he contemplates holding her hand a little longer, just to see how it feels. He doesn't, but he wants to, and that's all he needs to really know.

Her hands curl into her pillow now that she's not holding onto him, a soft sigh escaping her lips when he drags the blanket over her.

“Good-night, Catty.”
