Title: So I Stayed in the Darkness with You
Characters: Catty Turner/Kyp Durron
'Verse: counted_stars
Rating: PG-PG13

#1 Ring

The ground is scorched where his power erupts, a dark and ominous ring as a reminder of his power when her life flickers out.

#2 Hero

She's reckless, brash, stupid, always putting people before herself, shrugging off the things she's done and will do because “it's the right thing to do”, but he can't help but see her as a hero.

#3 Memory

Catty feels like she should remember Chris more vividly, but the more she tries to bring up his image in her mind, the more she only sees Kyp-and when she gets desperate, she tries to remember what it was like to have Chris kiss her, only to imagine Kyp in his place.

#4 Box

She plops the box down next to him, merely grinning when he looks up at her in confusion and says that it's to keep all of his favorite new things in; she blushes when he asks her how he'll be able to fit her inside of it.

#5 Run

“I'm not leaving you here alone, Kyp,” Catty tells him in a firm voice; Kyp knows her well enough by now to know that she isn't the type to run, even from death.

#6 Hurricane

Together, they are a force of destruction that should never have been allowed to meet.

#7 Wings

“I've always wondered what it would be like to fly,” she says, offhandedly; he attempts to teach her how to do it with her eyes closed.

#8 Cold

She shivers, and he wraps an arm around her shoulders without thinking about it, tugging her closer to him.

#9 Red

“I like it when you blush like that, Kyp.”

#10 Drink

The first kiss is a sloppy one that lands on his cheek after he's carried her back to the apartment and put her to bed.

#11 Midnight

They lie on their backs on the roof, watching the dark skies in silence while most people are asleep, their arms barely touching each other.

#12 Temptation

She hugs him-briefly-but the urge to stay there is so strong that her feelings reflect in his eyes, his face, his body.

His shirt is off, and the air suddenly becomes much hotter than it had been as her eyes roam subtly over his torso; she laughs nervously and waves him off when he calls her on it.

#14 Music

There are so many sounds in The Laughing Mynock, but even through it all, he can pick out her laughter, loud and familiar and all hers.

#15 Silk

His thumb brushes over her cheek, marveling at how soft her skin is for a girl who prides herself on throwing herself into as much action as possible.

#16 Cover

They're pressed into the shadows, silent as possible, crouching as they wait for the signal to rush, and Catty takes that moment to slip her hand into his and squeezes it gently.

#17 Promise

“I'm never going to leave you,” he promises, pressing his forehead to hers as she cries.

#18 Dream

In his arms, she sleeps peacefully for the first time in what seems like forever; she doesn't need dreams when she has him.

#19 Candle

He comes home to the apartment to find it completely dark, save for the fire she holds in her hands, and in a wistful tone twisted in an ache he wants to understand, she says to him, “I wish that we had candles to see with instead.”

#20 Talent

In a brief moment of brutal honesty, she whispers to him that it takes true talent to pretend the way that she does, talent and pain and more patience than she thought she had.

#21 Silence

She's quiet for a long time after he's said those words to her, her head bowed so that she's not even looking at him, and he's worried that he's said the wrong thing, misjudged everything until he sees the way her shoulders shake; he reaches out to cup her chin and tilt her head up so that she's looking at him-and it's in her eyes, glassy with tears, and in her silence, that he knows she feels the same.

#22 Journey

When the war is over, she tells him that she wants to go visit every planet in the Republic, and she tells him that he has to go with her.

#23 Fire

They can set the galaxy on fire, and that thought alone brings a dark and feral grin to her face, even as that part of herself realizes that the more she lets herself be drawn in by Kyp, the more she'll never escape.

#24 Strength

Catty's strength isn't her own; it's what she takes from the people that she loves and wants to protect, and when she touches Kyp, she knows it's his that she draws from as much as it's hers that he takes from her.

#25 Mask

The difference between this Kyp and the one that was her master is that one wore a mask, while the other is far too open for his own good; Catty realizes that the similarity between the same person is that they both can see her for who she truly is, mask or not.

#26 Ice

Her skin was cold, frozen to the touch, but he could feel a dim pulse in the Force coming from her; it was the only thing that kept him from leaving her side and making them pay.

#27 Fall

The plummet is an adrenaline rush, his heart racing and a thrum of fear and excitement as the ground rushes up to him quickly, but he isn't worried; Catty said she would catch him, and he hears her shriek of joy before he feels her hand tug on his shirt and pull him against her, tunnel opening below them.

#28 Forgotten

She runs her fingers through his hair as he presses his cheek to her thigh, telling her in a soft, flat voice how he couldn't even remember her.

#29 Dance

The young apprentices watch in awe as the two masters battle, their bodies moving with a fluid grace as they match each other hit for hit, dancing around one another without fear as they fight; it's as beautiful as anything they have ever been shown.

#30 Body

Their first time is awkward: fumbling kisses, nervous laughter, and not completely satisfying, but it's afterward when their bodies are pressed together and they have opened themselves to the Force that she realizes that this moment was worth the first part.

#31 Sacred

She shakes, nerves wrapped in nauseating fear as he leans his forehead gently against hers and she opens her mind up completely to him-no walls, no barriers, just everything that was her.

#32 Farewells

He won't say goodbye, and the emotions are pulling her in so many directions, she's sure she'll get sick here soon, even as her hands cup his face and she stares into his eyes; all she wants is for him to be with her, selfishly, so she swallows the end she knows should happen.

#33 World

It's an interesting contradiction between the two of them that should bother her more, but she finds it amusing: Catty saved a world while Kyp blew one up.

#34 Formal

Kyp addresses her stiffly, moves around her like she is someone he just met on the street, and Catty smiles to herself, because he's not fooling anyone with that air of jealousy surrounding him.

#35 Fever

“You're burning up, I need to get you some help or... or something, you're really sick,” Kyp panics as she rolls her glazed-over eyes, patting his arm gently.

#36 Laugh

Her laugh, even sixteen years later, is still almost the same-dark and rich, hinting at a private joke she's not going to share-and its reaction on Kyp is always the same as he tugs her closer to him.

#37 Lies

“I'm not attracted to Kyp, Claire; he just needs a lot of help, and I can't help worrying about him sometimes.”

#38 Forever

She straddles his hips, pushing down on his shoulders until they're flat against the bed, and she meets his stare with a lazy grin before leaning down and brushing her lips against his, whispering those three words meant only for him.

#39 Overwhelmed

His power is choking her, pressing tightly on her skin, in her lungs as she struggles to breathe it in, to swim through the dark edges of it just to find herself again, and she snorts as her eyes close, finally letting it sweep over her, giving no more resistance.

#40 Whisper

They don't need words to speak to each other, not after all this time; his fingers whisper over her skin, an obvious misuse of the Force at play as he expertly plucks her nerves that jolt through her like a scream.

#41 Wait

“Kyp,” she breathes his name out, barely a sigh, her hands wrapped tightly on his wrist as she attempts to tug him back; he glances over his shoulder at her with a careless grin, all guts and bravado and stupidity, and it's in that moment, when fear stabs her heart, she realizes she doesn't want him to be reckless because she can't risk losing him.

#42 Talk

He likes to hear her talk as much as he likes anything else about her; she doesn't talk enough about herself, doesn't open up like he's been with her, so when she does do it during one of their midnight dates, when she's just tired enough to let her guard down and babble about her life, he seizes it and doesn't let go.

#43 Search

When he finds her, she's already got the situation under control, a group of bodies scattered on the ground-amazingly alive, he notices-as she reclines back on a table, that beautiful smirk of hers plastered on her face as he moves closer to her; with a laugh, she slides off the table and says, “You took too long to find me, and they attacked first.”

#44 Hope

Her hands cup his face gently, looking into his eyes, and she can feel that dark need burning in her that reminds her of what choices she made back home, but it battles with what she never gave up, so she smiles at him, a look of hope shining in her eyes as he tells her everything will be okay-and for the first time in a long time, she actually believes it.

#45 Eclipse

Thought and reason have never been one of Catty's strong points, and she struggles to keep that delicate hold of them when she finally admits to herself that she's in love with this boy, but she knows they won't matter the moment she feels he'll be in danger.

#46 Gravity

It was inevitable, unfailing, like gravity, the way she seemed attracted to him: he was too much like Chris and Kyle rolled up together, and who was she to resist a law of nature?

#47 Highway

The flow of traffic is thick and fast, and she grips her seat with all of her strength as Kyp blasts through it, praying to any god who will listen to her that they don't die.

#48 Unknown

They don't know what will happen to them, but if Kyp is willing to be unafraid and risk staying with her, she can face anything with a grin.

#49 Lock

“I can't get the damn thing open,” she cries out before he slams his lightsaber into the keypad, the door swooshing open as he gives her a cocky grin and tells her, “Just saving you a bit of frustration,” and waits for the inevitable punch.

#50 Breathe

The other Jedi, for how open they are, watch the two warily; it's one thing to love someone, and another to not be able to breathe when they're not around.
