Hurricane

Hurricane Charly... fated to hit my house it seems. Being near the water in upper Tampa bay near downtown seemed great until now =(

It's hard to gauge how much to prepare for a hurricane. Do nothing? Pack everything up? I grew up here but I've never been "hit"... just felt the edges or tropical storms. They say there might be 14 feet of storm surge in the bay. None of the rich people around me have done anything with their houses... but 14 feet and category 3... I'm not going to take my chances!
My landlord doesn't think he needs to board up the windows either so I've packed up all my important stuff, put it off the ground and wrapped them in a bunch of tarps tonight in the back hall.

I've always been anxiety prone when it comes to my belongings.... like when I move and have everything in the truck I'm strangely afraid something is going to happen. That's probably why I'm overdoing it now. Does anybody else feel that way? If not I'll figure it out someday. That or sell all my belongings and be a monk or James Spader's character in Sex Lies and Videotape claiming I don't like to have too many keys.

Okay, now I'm just stalling. As soon as I hit submit I've got to turn off my dear dear PC. I'll miss you the next few days old girl. (sniff)
