But Nine Would have Done It Better

x Overall, this two-parter was wonderfully written and Family of Blood was a satisfying conclusion.

x However, Martha, I want to like you so bad, and for the most part I do, but please stop whining about your undying love for the Doctor. You're too good for him, which I'll get into later, and I was really prepared to delude myself into believing that the only reason she wanted him to fall in love with her or no one were Serious Plot Reasons, because that would make more sense.

x I'm feeling so ambivalent towards Ten right now. I was so unsure of him at first, but Christmas Invasion won me over so solidly that I was able to forgive the rest of Series 2 and Runaway Bride, and he really hit the ground running at the beginning of the current series. For the most part, I've utterly adored him so far this year, but part of tonight really didn't sit well with me. The Doctor's comment about no second chances really shone through in his treatment of the Family. It reminded me of Old School Timelord justice. Very Rassilon. I don't think Nine would have done it, and I think that's really the biggest difference between them.

x Also, him asking Joan to come with him seemed cruel and self-serving, but he really just could be that dense. Alien sensibilities aren't human ones, after all.

x Am I the only one who thought the way the Doctor came back from being John had parallels to the way the family took over their victims?

x Yes, the ending made me sniffle. It happens.

x Ten I want to love you, but I can't! Arg!

x Two weeks till Jack!

So apparently I'm writing Issac/Doyle afterlife!fic. How do these things happen?

heroes, doctor who
