Post-July 4th Workoutage

Jul 09, 2013 18:41

So today we had a good hard workout, following a long weekend off (and minus a couple of workouts last week, at least, speaking for myself). Collectively, it sounded like we all enjoyed the 4th … but were somewhat glad to get back in our routines.

Get some (heavy) weights, ladies, we are rockin’.

Warm up: jumping jacks, reverse lunges, side lunges, arm circles forward, arm circles backward. Pick up your weights.

Circuits 1 and 2: Squats with weights down and when standing up, curls up. Do a whole lot of those. Then straight leg deadlifts. Then bent over rows. Then drop a weight, hip thrusts with the other weight. Then single arm push presses, then switch sides. Then drop the weight, and do some more jumping jacks. Repeat whole circuit. I feel like we did more, but I could be wrong.

What did we add in on the last circuit? Pretty much the same, except in place of the push presses, we also added in hold one weight overhead to one side, rotate and bring weight down to knee height. Do a whole bunch of those, then switch. Instead of the jumping jacks, we did cross countries.

All of today’s exercises were timed. The times seemed really long. Really long. Sweat was pouring off of the Bear, if you know what I mean.

Conversation: pizza, of course, plus also fruit cobblers or crumbles, Mexican food prepared at Jayne’s house over the weekend, hamburgers (Jayne and I went to Shake Shack last week … to test the burgers and fries, of course … no shakes were consumed, or even desired, on my part anyway). Movies: the Bear saw Man of Steel, hence, we may now discuss the details. Chris saw it again. Jayne thinks Chris has the movie taste of an adolescent boy … she may be right. We also discussed The Way Way Back, with Sam Rockwell, who is darling (so is Henry Cavill, of Man of Steel body and fame). It adds a whole level of conversation when the Bear has actually seen a movie and can discuss (not my usual MO).

Cheers. The Bear
