Squats ... of a Bear

May 21, 2013 14:00

Today, the Bear was challenged. Chris was in a happy mood, despite having injured himself slightly playing basketball (note to self: don’t play basketball to reinjure your shoulder). Also, it is all of our suppositions that he was kind of pushing us harder than normal at the front end of the session because we had a guest/visitor/checker outer … Tiffany.

Jumping jacks, go. Squats, go. Alternating side lunges, go. Front arm circles, go. Reverse, go. Go get your weights. Huh? Heaviest 12.5s, 10s and 5s.

In keeping with our theme of “squats are your friends,” we did a lot of squats today.

Dead lifts with weights. Hold your weights at shoulder height, elbows in, squats. Neutral bicep curls, to push presses. Lots of them. Drop your weights, front planks. While holding the plank, bring in one knee, hold it, hold it, hold it. Then switch to the other one. Switch, switch, etc. Get up, squat jacks. Relax. Repeat whole circuit.

Sumo squats with weights. Hold weights at shoulder height, squats. Keeping weights at shoulder height, push presses. 12 burpees. Somethin, something. Then 10 squat jacks. Repeat circuit?

Get a mat, get on the floor, on your back, legs in the air, one weight in your left hand neutral grip, push presses. After a whole bunch of those (20 for me), switch to other hand, and do more. Get up, lateral squat jumps (like ski jumps). Do a whole freakin’ bunch of those. Some of us had real hand/body coordination issues … it was entertaining to watch. Then I can’t remember the rest. Relax.

Cool down, stretch.

Hit the showers.

Bear's quads are shakin' and bakin', if you know what I mean. That was a lot of squats today.
