Raiden. Think I can ask a favor?

[Not touching the bit about Rose right now. Snake's probably exhausted all his limited ability to be comforting last time she came up in conversation. But he wanted to talk to Jack anyway and this is him...sort of helping because man, you need something to keep you occupied.]

[A sharp exhalation that means yes, he has. He's not going to be offering many details, though. But it's been a couple weeks, so luckily the bruises have faded and he's more or less back in fighting shape, even if his weapons are still trashed.]

Liquid's pretty persistent. At least tell me he hasn't been giving you trouble.

Liquid? No, I've spoken to him once or twice but he's never bothered me. I'll be on my guard, though.

[He scratches his chin thoughtfully.]

The Bounty Hunters Association. You'll get a permit to legally buy and own weapons, as well as leave the city. You'll also get paid for going out and killing off some of those creatures that live in the wastelands, some of the components are pretty valuable. We could go together, I don't mind waiting for you.

He shouldn't have much reason to, but he's gone through my allies to get to me before. [Said with a hint of anger and a tense jaw.] ...I won't let that happen again. But it won't hurt to keep an eye out.

[He listens intently as Raiden explains. Now they're getting somewhere. He'd been laying low long enough to get back on his feet. But he's getting a little restless.]

[A nod. Honestly, Snake doesn't think Liquid will try it. But he could trust Raiden to handle himself, at least. He scowls down at the CLD for a minute. Things like this remind him how much he really does miss having Otacon around.]

Too crowded around here for my tastes. I can meet you halfway to your place, unless you've got a better idea.

[Raiden is waiting outside said dump lovely home, sword drawn and tapping against the wall lightly as he waits. Upon seeing Snake, he waves once and starts to walk towards him.]

Hey. You weren't followed, right?

[He doesn't really care about people knowing where he lives now; not if he's moving anyway. Besides, unless they could see Jack it would take a while for them to figure out which building he was inside.]

[He raises a hand briefly at the wave and shakes his head. That's a firm "no." He'd be careful anyway, but with Liquid around and dead set on another deathmatch, Snake's been justifiably prone to a little more caution than the usual. Which is impressive, really, considering the usual amount of caution back home had been due to being wanted by the public as a terrorist and making an enemy of the Patriots. Either way, he's a pretty hard guy to sneak up on in the first place. You don't sneak up on Snake. Snake sneaks up on you.]
