I put the turn signal housings back in the car today and placed the turn signal bulbs in the twilight position. The bulbs are significantly less bright in this position, so my decision to make the halogen bulbs work in sync with the turn bulbs has been pretty much solidified. I've got my wiring diagram drawn out, but I haven't decided what values I want to use for the resistors just yet. I'm waiting until the bulbs arrive so that I can get an idea of their actual brightness and beam spread before I try to estimate how much dimmer I want to make them.
Now, on to something that has nothing to do with the function of the lights (at least not until I get the halogen bulbs installed): I am really pleased with the visual aspect of the signal housings after painting the reflectors with the translucent orange. I think that it helps to give a little more color and character to the front end, and breaks up all that white space a bit better.
