Your main fandom(s) of the year: Gotham for writing fic and obsessing. For reading: MCU, Harry Potter (both because I read fics in a lot of pairings and about a lot of characters) and, oddly, Red Riding Hood.
Best film you watched this year: The Lego Movie 2
Best book you read this year: Perfect Happiness by Penelope Lively (although as it was not about grief, I’m not saying it was my favourite book of the year)
Your favourite album or song to listen to this year: Album is tough to pick, so I’ll go for ‘Bad Guy’ by Billie Eilish.
Your favourite TV show of the year: If you put it like that, Gotham. Or Strictly. (Best would be trickier.)
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year: Natasha's death in Endgame. Clint, ‘What did you do over the last five years, Daddy?’ ‘…’ ‘In that hair?’, could have died, or their equal willingness to sacrifice themselves could have given them the Soul Stone…It’s the sourest note in the film. (It also made me sigh when Mystique died in Dark Phoenix.) As I seem to have been excited about Joker this time last year, it’s worth noting how disinclined to see it I felt the more I heard about it.
Your biggest squee moment of the year: Learning that James Gunn had been reinstated as writer/director of the next Guardians of the Galaxy. Learning that Killing Eve was back. Late in the year, THAT scene in the Giri/Haji finale.
Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year: Rolling over from last year, surely they'll show the adaptation of ‘Lethal White’ this year. Otherwise, the Mulan movie, Black Widow and whatever else Marvel are releasing this year and Wonder Woman: 1984.
Favourite couple of 2019: Selina Kyle/Bruce Wayne (mainly from Gotham)
Favourite main character of 2019: In books, it’s a threeway tie between Mrs Isabella Camherst (The Tropic of Serpents), Irene Winters (The Lost Plot) and Sophronia Treminick (Curtsies and Conspiracies).
Favourite other character of 2019: Selina Kyle, Demelza Poldark and Villanelle. Natasha Romanoff. Thor. Jemma Simmons. Melinda May.
