Recs 10/10
I feel justified for splitting the last batch, because I can slip in Snowy Weather by small_hobbit (Sanditon (TV) Esther/Babington). Written for me! Esther and Babington talk themselves out of going to a party. It weaves the song the prompt references in well.
And here are my final recs for the year. Again, nothing from this year's Yuletide, but fics and fanvids in the following fandoms: Timeless; The Wood Wife; Wonder Woman; X-men movievers;; Zootopia; and Original fic.
Timeless
Improvisation for Beginners: geneeste (Lucy/Wyatt, teen. Season 1.)
Tipsy!Lucy in a bar with Wyatt, no Rufus, but plenty of UST, lets some things slip, but Wyatt doesn’t seem to mind… Yummy.
The Wood Wife
Sonoran Dreams: cher (Post-book, gen with Maggie/Fox)
This is very good. Beautifully written, and in keeping with the themes and concerns of the book, especially the sense of place. I loved how, in this homecoming, Maggie discovered parts of her that had always existed blooming, that she was capable of being herself.
Wonder Woman
something left behind: sevenfoxes (Diana/Steve, strong teen)
In which Diana is pregnant with Steve’s child. This is beautiful and captures Diana’s voice and heart.
X-Men movieverse
Bodies: Andraste, LokisRose, (ensemble, teen, spoilers for all the movies bar Dark Phoenix),
This vid is really rich and thoughtful as well as emotional, the kind of vid that demands several viewings.
Zootopia
Four Vixens and a Bunny Cop: tielan (Judy/Nick)
Great characterisation, a nice continuation of the film's punning names and grounding procedural vibe, and then the feelings and attraction between Nick and Judy. Really good on intimacy and testing and respecting boundaries between them.
Original Fic
Excerpts from the Journal of Lucretia von Aimes, D.Eng., PhD, D.Phil., etc.: Septmars (Female genius inventor/Hyper competent male assistant)
This story told via notes is huge fun.
